About the Role
Requirements
Location: Remote Type: Contract (Part-time or Full-time) Focus: 70% Web App · 30% iOS Support Stage: Early-stage, product-led startup
About Deck
Deck is the easiest way for you to go out with your people. An AI-native, gamified marketplace that helps people discover, decide on, and book the best experiences in their city - without the planning chaos.
Our belief is simple:
The web app is the first handshake with a stranger.
For many users, it will be the first place they experience Deck after seeing an ad, link, or shared session. This means the web experience must feel fast, fluid, delightful, and confidence-building - on par with products like Airbnb, Notion, or Linear.
We’re now looking for a strong web engineer to take real ownership of that experience.
The Role (What You’ll Actually Be Doing)
This is not a generic frontend role.
You will be the person responsible for making Deck’s web app feel world-class - visually, interactively, and performance-wise.
🧠 Core Responsibilities
Web App Ownership (≈70%)
Own the end-to-end web experience: landing → discovery → interaction → conversion
Build a fast, fluid, app-like web interface that rivals best-in-class consumer products
Translate product & UX intent into high-quality frontend architecture
Optimize for:
performance (load time, responsiveness)
motion & transitions
perceived speed
conversion and engagement
Work closely with the founders to iterate quickly on:
onboarding flows
multiplayer / shareable experiences
SEO-friendly, conversion-optimised pages
iOS Support (≈30%)
Support our CTO with frontend-adjacent work on the iOS app
Help with:
shared logic
UI polish
bug fixes
overflow tasks so the CTO can stay focused on core iOS development
What We’re Looking For
This matters more than pedigree.
✅ Must-Haves
Strong experience building modern web apps (React or similar)
Deep understanding of frontend performance & UX
Ability to think in user journeys, not just components
Comfort working in a fast-moving, low-process environment
Strong communication and ownership mindset
⭐ Nice-to-Haves (Not Required, But Big Plus)
Experience with:
Next.js or similar frameworks
animation libraries (Framer Motion, GSAP, etc.)
SEO-friendly app architectures
Experience shipping consumer-facing products
Exposure to mobile development (React Native / iOS collaboration)
Familiarity with CI/CD workflows (GitHub Actions, basic pipelines)
How We Work
Small, velocity-first founding team
Minimal meetings, maximum clarity
You’ll work directly with the CTO and founders
We care deeply about craft, not just shipping checklists
Why This Role Is Interesting
You’ll shape the first impression of the product for thousands of users
Real ownership, not ticket-taking
High-impact work directly tied to growth & fundraising
Opportunity to grow into a long-term role as the company scales
How to Apply
Send your CV to hello@swipeondeck along with the following:
A short intro
Links to web apps you’ve built or worked on
Anything that shows how you think about product quality & UX
One extra thing (optional but 🔥)
If you’ve ever looked at a product like Airbnb or Notion and thought
“I know why this feels so good to use”
we really want to talk to you.
